In Chinese, \u65b9\u4f4d\u8bcd (f\u0101ng w\u00e8i c\u00ed), or nouns of locality, are used for this purpose. For words of locations, it works the same way. Just put\u9762 (mi\u00e0n) \u2013 surface or \u8fb9 (bi\u0101n) \u2013 side after the character itself.
